Virtua Tennis 4 Review (Playstation 3)
1 CommentsPosted by Sarah Conlan on May 15, 2011 under Featured, PS3 Reviews
Virtua Tennis 4 has always been a really fun game and it was one I waited for with excitement every year. With the advancement of technology and the adoption of motion controllers, the expectations of sports games are now very demanding. Can Virtua Tennis 4 appease the masses? Sadly, Virtua Tennis 4 doesn't really reinvent itself, and it seems to be struggling to come up with new, fresh ideas, ... more. -
Brink Review (Xbox 360)

Brink is no ordinary, everyday shooter, the whole concept of this action game revolves around some rather dramatic and inventive ideas. The fluid, Mirrors Edge style parkour movement is combined with a unusual player objective mechanic. Brink is formed around the constant battle between The Resistance and The Security, two factions who live on an overpopulated island called The Ark. The game is... more. -
Darkspore Review (PC)

DarkSpore is not about cute creatures and falling in love. There is no evolving from a single cell organism to a cool and level headed ruler of the galaxy. Darkspore is a science fiction role playing game with no real connection to the original game which was such a huge success for Electronic Arts. Spore was a very original game which appealed to both kids and grandmothers, but this latest offeri... more. -
Mortal Kombat Review (Xbox360)

If, like me, you are old enough then you may remember playing Mortal Kombat in the arcades almost 20 years ago. It was a game which attracted the young male audience, because it featured plenty of gore and death moves. The ninth game (yes, count 'em) has just been released and this time, they really are playing hard ball. Ed Boon and his talented team at NetherRealm Studios have really created ... more. -
Operation Flashpoint: Red River Review (PS3)

Operation Flashpoint has been a very successful franchise, targeting the first person shooter audience who like a little focus on tactics, rather than straightforward kamikaze heroics. The games started on the PC platform, but in recent years have seen many outings on the console platform also. Dragon Rising from 2009 was a fun romp, but the difficulty setting and long duration between auto saves ... more. -
Portal 2 Review (PC)
1 CommentsPosted by Terry Franklin on April 22, 2011 under Featured, PC ReviewsPortal was an incredible success when it was released in 2007. It was a witty, charming, addictive romp through a virtual puzzle world. The puzzle design was inspired, forcing gamers to think laterally. With 19 test rooms and a final battle with the sarcastic computer AI GlaDOS it was awarded game of the year by many publications and still remains in the list of top ten PC titles of all time for m... more. -
Crysis 2 Review (Xbox 360)

Crysis was an epic game, and whether you loved or loathed it, for many years it became a ' benchmark' for PC gaming, and opened many debates along the lines of 'yes, but how well can you run Crysis?'. I liked the original - it was fun, it was entertaining, and with the ludicrous hardware demand it became a personal goal of mine to get it running well at high settings on my 1080p plasma TV. The foll... more. -
Shift 2 Unleashed (PC) Review

Shift was a classic title, I played it for months. For me this is a big deal as I find most racing games about as appealing as putting my hand in a blender. Shift 2 is a great game, which I had a blast reviewing over the last week. Electronic Arts have clearly placed a lot of time and effort into developing the new title, and trying to find a niche market which isn't directly competing against ... more. -
Dragon Age 2 (PC) Review

BioWare have been producing some of the finest games in recent years. If like me, you dedicated several months of your life to Mass Effect 2, then we all had high hopes for Dragon Age 2. Is the game worth the money? For the last two weeks I have been playing Dragon Age 2, playing all the side missions, and trying to find all the hidden Easter Eggs throughout the maps. I feel in a good position ... more. -
Warhammer 40,000: Dawn Of War II – Retribution Review (PC)
1 CommentsPosted by Terry Franklin on March 11, 2011 under Featured
I loved Warhammer 40,000: Dawn Of War II, but sadly I have to admit that the game frequently kicked my ass. The bosses were extremely difficult and I died more often than I would care to admit. It looks however as if the designers Relic have made the latest expansion 'Retribution' slightly more approachable for those people, like myself, without cyborg implants. Those who have already played Da... more.
