If, like me you are in your thirties you might remember the original Choplifter game which was released in 1982 for the Apple II. A few years later it was ported over to other home computers and then in 1985 Sega released an arcade version which proved popular. Choplifter was a simple game, yet incredibly addictive. The premise was to shoot down enemy weaponry in your path and to rescue friendl... more.

Serious Sam has earned 'cult' status on the PC platform. The first two titles proved to be big sellers for Croteam, targeting the first person shooter audience who just wanted a good old 'run and gun' style experience. I have been playing the latest iteration in the series now for the last week and have found it both fun, and incredibly challenging. Croteam have followed the same structure as t... more.
  • Need For Speed: The Run (PC) Review

I remember the day when I loved to play the Need For Speed games, but recently I will admit to finding them dull, monotonous and immediately forgettable. When I was asked to review 'The Run' I winced inwardly at the prospect of having to sit through hours and hours of racing through various boring sections of a generic world map. Surprisingly 'The Run' is the first racing game Electronic Arts have... more.

  • Assassins Creed: Revelations Review (PS3)

Assassins Creed has been a huge cash cow for Ubisoft over the years, backed up by massive television advertising campaigns. While I have enjoyed the games in the past, I have found them all slightly repetitive after a few hours of climbing, jumping and killing. The latest Revelations follows on from Brotherhood, adding a few new features but basically retreading the same old ground. I make no p... more.
  • Battlefield 3 Review (PC)

I have been playing Call Of Duty Modern Warfare 3 and Battlefield 3 together, getting to grips with the weaknesses and strengths with both titles. COD: MW3 left me with a rather sour taste in my mouth - because while I enjoyed the (short) single player missions I found that it was a strictly 'paint by numbers' experience, bringing nothing new to the table. Battlefield 3 has been the more enjoyable... more.
  • Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 Review (PC)

Call Of Duty, what is there left to say that hasn't already been said? One of the most successful franchises in game history, making hundreds of millions in revenue with every release. The big question needs answered however, is MW3 just more rehashing of the series or does it deliver good value for money? For the most part MW3 plays by the rules. Meaning, the developers know what is successful... more.

Oblivion was without question one of my favourite games of all time. I dedicated months of game time to completing as many of the quests as possible and ended up mapping all the territory, just for fun. Addicted was an understatement. Skyrim has been hyped now for the last year, and it is finally upon us, but can it live up to all the expectations? It certainly won't be easy. There is no doubt ... more.
