A teaser trailer has appeared for Call of Duty Black Ops 2′s zombie survival mode. While it doesn’t show much, if you’re eagerly anticipating a fresh zombie slaying title, or were a big fan of previous Treyarch efforts, this will certainly whet your appetite.
The trailer initially shows a post apocalyptic world, populated by nothing much but abandoned cars. A lone, worn down school bus makes its way through the rubble, stopping briefly at the bus station – though the letter U on the neon sign is out, leaving just BS clearly visible – to open its doors. The number plate reads XP-79, which some have speculated could be a link to the experimental Northrop XP-79 jet aircraft, which was undergoing testing around the period the first Treyarch zombie mode was based.
A voice welcomes players aboard, though it’s disembodied and the panning shot cuts just before the driver of the vehicle is revealed. The CoD Black Ops 2 Zombies logo is then revealed, announcing a world premiere of the game mode on the 26th of September. This is followed by a short few seconds of zombies running like crazy, in a much more Left 4 Dead style than the earliest CoD zombie offerings. We also see the bus one more time, this time in transit, with a zombie with blue eyes clinging to the side and ripping off a wooden plank.
We can presume from this that players will need to defend the bus as it makes its way through the deserted landscape, though this could be just part of the hinted at zombie campaign mode.
KitGuru Says: It’s been a few years now since Left 4 Dead 2 was released and even with the Cold Stream DLC, players of the fast paced zombie shooter are likely itching for a new fix. Do you guys fall in that camp? Or is this just another shuffling undead game mode in a horde of similar available experiences?
