Hacking group “Anonymous” denies involvement in PSN outages

The PlayStation Network (PSN) has been plagued with issues and outages for several weeks, and the service has been unavailable for several days. Sony has commented that this issue is not primarily related to the companies servers themselves. In fact they have stated that these issues have been caused by hackers, and Anonymous had been named.

“An external intrusion on our system has affected our PlayStation Network and Qriocity services. In order to conduct a thorough investigation and to verify the smooth and secure operation of our network services going forward, we turned off PlayStation Network & Qriocity services on the evening of Wednesday, April 20th. Providing quality entertainment services to our customers and partners is our utmost priority.”

Amazon has also reported issues with its site being hacked in the past few days, again Anonymous was named.

Kitguru says: Are Sony having server issues, or is Anonymous working overtime this weekend?
