The first image of the next Call of Duty game was revealed at the Games Developer Conference by Sledgehammer games and posted up by the guys over at IGN. This will be the first game the company has ever completely handled itself, with the only other one on its resume CoD: Modern Warfare 3, which it co-developed with Infinity Ward to generally positive reviews – though it’s considered the first real downturn in the series’ quality.
However graphically at least, this new one should be a good looking game, since it’s the first CoD title to specifically target the new-gen systems, rather than the last game – Ghosts – which straddled the generations and suffered detail and frame rate drops because of it.
The screenshot doesn’t show us much, though the detailing on the man’s fledgling moustache is impressive:
The developers confirmed that this is an in-game screenshot
The game has the potential for a lot more polish too, since it’s the first time that publisher Activision has given a developer three years to produce the game, rather than the traditional two, with Infinity Ward and Treyarch going back to back. Now, Sledgehammer is part of the trio of developers, making the development cycle still regular, but that bit longer.

KitGuru Says: What do you guys think of the screengrab? And are you excited for the next-CoD? The shooter I’m most hyped about this year is Evolve.
