Video Games Banned for Surprising Reasons
0 CommentsPosted by Karin E. Skoog on January 12, 2012 under Featured, Xbox 360
Video games are banned for many reasons, often related to drugs, sex, and violence and sometimes treatment of certain religions (ex. Malaysia banning games that are explicitly anti-Muslim). Some countries ban games due to historical references, such as Germany banning games for Nazi references and Iran banning Battlefield 3 for a fictional US invasion in Tehran. Sometimes aspects of games are... more. -
Top 5 Games from Scandinavia

Scandinavia – land of the midnight sun and free college tuition; home to Vikings, IKEA, and Legos. This region of Northern Europe (including Denmark, Norway, Sweden and sometimes Finland and Iceland) is often omitted from the itinerary of world travelers visiting Europe, though it is rich in cultural and history. I find that when I talk to Americans about Sweden, they often forget the name ... more. -

Third person shooters have such engaging gameplay as it is that not much else is necessary to make these games a hit. After all, how can you beat gunning down man after man, monster after monster, zombie after zombie? The upcoming game Inversion takes third person shooters one step farther by throwing zero gravity and vector changes into the mix. Shifting gravity in a third person shooter â... more. -

Last month Trine 2 was released on Xbox Live and the PlayStation Network. It is a wonderful fantasy puzzle platformer with truly phenomenal graphics that have critics raving. 0 CommentsPosted by Karin E. Skoog on January 5, 2012 under Featured, PC Gaming, PC News
I know the title of this article may seem farfetched. For years, videogames have received enormous criticism for being too violent and resulting in increased violence among gamers. Swarms of articles questioned the effects of video games. Concerned parents closely followed research attributing gaming to violence. Could the stigma against video games finally be reaching an end? A vas... more. -

Pokémon is one of the highest grossing game series of all time. My knowledge on the Pokémon games pretty much ends there, though I know the game titles include different precious gems like ruby and sapphire. Apart from collecting a bunch of Pokémon cards as a kid, I never got into the whole scene, but wow is Pokémon a big deal! North America is in the midst of the Pokémon Video Game Ch... more. -

The Q*bert world record remains untouched. The latest attempt happened this past weekend by George Leutz in New Jersey – 57 hours and 40 minutes with a final score of 26,721,915. The record remains at a whopping 33 million, expected to take over 70 hours of gameplay. Maybe Leutz should try for the longest drum marathon on Rock Band, since the world record is only half the time of Leutz’s... more. -

STUPID THING! DON’T JUMP THAT WAY. I TOLD YOU TO JUMP THIS WAY! GREAT, I’M DEAD…AGAIN. Yelling at the TV is just a part of gaming. Don’t even try to pretend you never yelled at the TV or screamed in agony when gaming gets truly hairy. Some people have even channeled this frustration into absolutely hilarious videos. My favorite series by far – The Angry Video Game Nerd (AVG... more. -
