  • Wizards invulnerable with Diablo III flaw

0 CommentsPosted by on July 23, 2012 under Featured, PC Gaming
Blizzard's launch of Diablo III could be considered anything but problem free. The issues with DRM, the Real Money Auction House, the expected balance issues, the unexpected game restrictions - there's been some issues - but this latest one could prove to be just as problematic. The bug is only effective on the Wizard class of character, but once instigated will make the player completely imp... more.
  • Spec Ops: The Line Review (PS3)

Allow me to open this review with some honesty. I am not generally a fan of real life setting military shooters. The idolizing of soldiers and glorification of war as a simple battle of heroes (American troops) versus villains (Russians, terrorists, etc.) never really sat well with me. Add to that the fact I generally don't care about online multiplayer in the FPS/ TPS genres means I tend to ... more.
  • Iwata: Being first to next-gen “not important”

0 CommentsPosted by on July 20, 2012 under Featured, Wii
Satoru Iwata has said that he doesn't believe it is important to be first in the next-generation of consoles - as the Wii U will absolutely be - but that price will be the main point to compete on. Speaking with Gamasutra, the Nintendo head explained that the current competition wasn't with higher definition gameplay, but on the second screen, the tablet, the smartphone. While he argued that cu... more.

Through my research of the MENA video game industry for a video interview series about gaming, I came across a news segment in which a scholar reports that there are two kinds of video games – those serving as murals for society and those serving as propaganda tools.  Often, video games are used in the latter sense to propel the image of the U.S. army.  However, the most recent attempt to prom... more.
  • Borderlands 2 campaign will last nearly 60 hours

Marketing vice president at Gearbox, Steve Gibson, has been talking Borderlands 2, suggesting that a playthrough with just one character could take 58 hours to complete. Describing the game as more of a hobby than just a game, he said that "some guide guys" told him that they'd spent almost 60 hours completing it.  “So the depth with which people can get into that…Yeah we look at it as a hob... more.

“Fragrance Company Aims to Capture the Scent of Videogames”  – That is the title that jumped out at me as I scanned Google News today.  After clicking the article to reveal the sentence, “Mega Man is the first game character to receive a personalized aroma,” I thought there was no possible way it could be a real news article.   No, clearly something out of The Onion or some other sat... more.
  • Bellator: MMA Onslaught Review (PSN)

Bellator: MMA Onslaught is a combat fighter game that recently came onto the PSN and XBLA. It's another effort by Spike games who seem determined to turn any of the combat based TV shows on Spike into commercials in the form of downloadable games. Frankly, I think their efforts up to now have been a waste of time. This recent game seems to be trying to cash in on the popularity of the UFC tit... more.
  • Dungeon Twister Review (PSN)

Dungeon Twister is a PSN/ XBLA title that was recently released, apparently based on a board game of the same name. Not that I knew this going in, considering the only trailer for it I had seen featured several fantasy characters singing and dancing in a hip hop video with a wizard pretending to be Michael Jackson. Ridiculous choice of advertising aside however, I really enjoyed this one. ... more.
  • $1 Million Video Game Sale

While many of you, I’m sure, have extensive game collections, I doubt many collections would fetch a price quite as impressive as this collector’s recent sale. 32-year-old Andre living in the south of France sold a piece of his collection on eBay for over $1.2 million!  It includes “every video game for many of Nintendo’s consoles, every video game for every single Sega console as... more.
