Wow, we gamers are a demanding group! Although I realize many were upset by the Mass Effect 3 ending (not because it was a horrible ending but rather because previous decisions weren’t taken into account), when I learned about the recent surfacing of petitions to change the ending, I initially thought it was a joke…a story perhaps concocted by The Onion (a satirical American newspaper). P... more. -

This weekend saw the opening of the Smithsonian’s exhibit “The Art of Video Games.” Gamers lined up (in costume even!) to meet Metal Gear Solid creator Hideo Kojima, and the Smithsonian had one of its busiest days since 2006. The exhibit garnered much attention before its opening – allowing the public to vote on featured games, announcing a book called The Art of Video Games, unintention... more. -

Mass Effect is one of the most highly regarded series in video game history, and with the conclusion making its debut just last week, the internet has been exploding with reactions on the widely anticipated finale. Mass Effect 3 is a game that cannot be done justice through merely writing about the emotional impact and gut wrenchingly intense choices that have gamers raving. This ethical jour... more. -

Whites typically take it for granted that the right shade of Band-Aid is readily available at drugstores and dolls with like features can easily be found in toy stores. Heck, whites even take it for granted that Jesus is portrayed as white, despite the probability that he was much darker in real life. White Privilege and Racism in Video Games: A Quick Overview So too is the overwhelming pr... more. -

Alan Wake fans rejoice – Alan Wake has hit the PC! It even includes two DLC continuations – The Signal and The Writer. You are immediately thrown into a nightmare, face-to-face with your own creation – a hitchhiker from your own stories. As combat initially consists of merely dodging attacks and running away from the enemy, it was a relief when Alan obtained a flashlight and a gun. ... more. -
Syndicate Review (PC)

When I first heard that Syndicate was being remade into a first person shooter this year, my heart sunk into my stomach. Why would someone want to take a hatchet to this classic original title? Fans of the original Bullfrog Productions isometric style game will be surely disappointed to hear that the remake has very little of the unique style of gameplay which so attracted hordes of gamers in t... more. -

It happened today, on the way back from a career fair…a thought flashed across my mind, leaving me to wonder the enormity of the future of games and how the industry’s future will shape into something so much larger than analysts can currently predict. The career fair was filled “green” organizations. In fact, some were there just to promote an idea – their company’s mission for b... more. -
